Krenngala Meurth Distilling Company (KMDC) takes its name from the Cornish for Ingenuity and Mastery - the two pillars that underpin every discovery we make and bottle we produce.
We exist to bring exciting new flavour and sensory experiences to consumers and groundbreaking methods to the industry, using science, unconventional thinking, and precision to drive creation.

John Hall
Master Distiller
At the heart of KMDC is John Hall, a chemist, innovator and master distiller whose obsession with flavour and process has shaped every liquid under our roof. John’s approach is rooted in hypothesis and testing, fueled by a relentless drive to understand how things work on a fundamental level. This deep understanding is the foundation of our reputation for innovation. From reviving a forgotten 1929 gin recipe to inventing the Fibonacci-Hall Method and patent-pending still, John’s passion is always to push the boundaries of what distilling can do.

2013
Rediscovering Trevethan
John finds a 1929 Cornish bathtub gin recipe and begins ultra‑craft kitchen production of Trevethan Gin.
2013–2022
Iteration and Awards
Years of science-led tweaking turn Trevethan into an award-winning gin, culminating in IWSC Gold Outstanding with 98 points in 2022.
2025
Aureus Vita Launch
Aureus Vita is released as the result of 12 years of trial and error and an obsession with flavour and precision.
2026
Rum Debut
KMDC prepares to release a new rum, extending its science-led approach beyond gin.
The Proof is in the Bottle
Everything is done on site. Nothing is brought in except the raw materials. If we can’t make it here, it doesn’t go in the bottle. This means no artificial additives, flavourings, or colourings and no bulking up with bought in pre-made spirits. This way, we control quality and ensure excellence at all times.

Award-winning gin with deep Cornish roots. Winner of IWSC National Gin Producer Trophy 2021 and Gold Outstanding 98/100 in 2022.
Vapoura Rum
All natural, double copper pot distilled English rums of uncompromising quality.
Aureus Vita
Super luxury gin with astonishing complexity and an exceptionally long and layered finish, created using the patent-pending Fibonacci-Hall Still and the Fibonacci-Hall Method.
Cask Matured English Whisky
Small batch English Whisky, currently in development. Expect radical, harmonious, long-lasting flavours, and heritage grains that showcase the terroir of our place in the World.
